This is Reaper. He's a nice little all-black Field Spaniel and I love him dearly but he, like every other dog I've tried to pose just will NOT pose in the standard or 'dane' position. I know that the Dane pose is the most likely winner in pretty much every Dogz show, and I'd really like to get Reaper some high pointage, but out of hundreds, if not thousands, of consecutive clicks of that little Petz camera, I've gotten maybe one or two suitable Dane poses. What is wrong? Are some dogz just incapable of posing? Can he be trained? Will I ever get a winning pose out of him? I don't really want comments on how the pose might do in a show - I want advice on how to get Reaper to pose more than once in a blue moon, and how to make sure he does it right. I know what I'm looking for, now I just need a roadmap and a compass to find it.

Well, dogz are rather like that, unfortunately.
Here's some ideas/tips/thoughts for you- -When he does a dali pose, stop clicking the camera for a few seconds. He should turn his head. -Dogz are quicker to "pose" when they're not aligned well. So just leave him out in an empty room, and take a few pictures. If he even semi-poses, pet him. Keep doing this every time he does something similar to a dane pose, and eventually work on getting him more aligned at the same time. This will kind of train him to pose at the click of a camera.

Well I've found my own stratagy that might help you. Get Your dog to go into an overpose. yes probibly the first time you've heard that, but here's how it works.
1. Allign your dog to what you think is right 2. Snap pictures until they go into an overpose. Then STOP 3. They will eventually turn their head to make a dane overpose. Wait until they go back into a normal dane pose to go for a picture. It may take a couple of times, but they will get a relitivly good dane pose. Although you will need to keep working to get the higher head.
Hey hope I helped. This has worked for all of my dogs... well the ones that stand still long enough to let me take a picture at least. hehe. Tell me how that works for you, i'm interested to see if it works with this breed.

[edit] Okay, now I'm wondering some things about head positions. Is this a pose at all? I like that he's all aligned and facing the right direction and all, but is he too relaxed and not proud enough? Because I also have this one: Which I was worried about him being too proud looking, because in another post of these same origins I had someone say that in a similar pose he looked too proud and might've been over-posing. Sorry everyone for all this bother, but I've never really showed dogz before and I've come to find that they're much more difficult than catz.. And thanks very much for the suggestions you gave me. He's posing a lot better now, though it's still very rare and usually at the worst position.

I'm glad they helped ^_^ As for the head, the second one's not bad really. Some people like a high head, while others like they straighter. If you like the height on the head, then your good to go, but if you feel like you need to, try for the higher head, it's all up to luck s don't be discouraged if he's being stubborn.
